The world’s fastest Indian!

In a sporting victory that was long awaited by the Indian Motorsport community, Narain Karthikeyan won an international grand prix. Ok, so it wasn’t F1 but the alternative(or call it rebel if you like) A1 GP league.

Narain’s victory came in China, where he triumphed over a field of drivers from 21 countries.

After a brief stint at the pinnacle of motorsport, Formula 1, Karthikeyan had to move out. The reason was clear, Narain could not rope in the million dollar sponsorship amounts needed by drivers in F1. He switched to represent India’s team in A1 GP, and had been having a mediocre season there as well. This was until Sunday morning, when Karthikeyan sped ahead on a wet racetrack driving a car known to have setup problems in past races, to snatch a win against all odds.

Congratulations Narain. The nation is proud of you.
